Welcome to the Swans Class page.
Class Teacher: Mr L. Jerromes
Below is some useful information about our class.
Reading
- We encourage you to read with your children at home at least 5 times a week to foster a love of reading within your child. Children will have a ZPD and therefore they know which colour book they should be reading.
- We encourage your child to change their book as and when they need to in our class libraries so that they will always have a book to read.
- Please remember to write in your child's reading journal every time they have read at home. We also encourage the children in Year 4 to write a comment in their reading journal when they can.
- Every 5 reads recorded will be noted and your child will earn a raffle ticket which will be entered into a prize draw.

PE
- Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit on their designated P.E. day.
- Swan's P.E. day is Monday.
- Please remember to remove earrings before they come to school on a Monday.
Homework
- Children are asked to read their books at home as much as is possible. This will encourage children to learn new words and be able to write for longer.
- Children should complete Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes on the books they have read within 24 hours of finishing the book. If you are finding it difficult to access AR please speak to your child's class teacher
- TT Rockstars for at least 5 minutes every day to improve their speed and recall of multiplications!
- Spellings will come home weekly and be tested weekly. this will usually be 10 words a week.
- Please complete the maths homework from the Whiterose maths book weekly
SPRING TERM
In the spring term, our overarching topic is called Raiders and Traders, with a historical emphasis on Saxons and Vikings, as well as looking at Sweden in geography. Science will see us looking at electricity and sound, whereas in art we will consider perspective, and circuits in Design and Technology, which will link nicely with the science.
PE will be on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure children are wearing the correct kit and black trainers. Remember, no earrings are to be worn in PE lessons.
Please continue to make sure the children sign their reading diaries 5 times a week (5 reads = 1 raffle ticket) and that they are playing TT Rock Stars at least 4 times a week. Our national times tables assessment is rapidly approaching in June! Also, please complete the Whiterose maths homework from the homework book, which is allocated weekly.
Attached is our updated timetable, an overview of the term's learning, and the knowledge organisers for science, history and geography.
