The catering service at Westvale Park is provided by Harrison Catering Services. Since its founding in 1994, Harrison has always been about quality fresh food prepared and served by people who love what they do.
Harrison understands that what young people eat affects their health and their ability to learn and perform in the classroom. At Westvale Park, our catering team provides nutritious, balanced meals, and we work to educate the children on how to make healthier food choices. Our goal is to instil a love and understanding of fresh, healthy food at a young age that will positively influence them throughout life.
Hot dinners are provided in the dining room everyday; this consists of either meat or a vegetarian option with a serving of vegetables and potato/rice. We also provide jacket potatoes, as well as a self-service salad bar. Hot puddings or fresh fruit are available daily to complement the main course.
School meals are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We aim to keep costs as low as possible for the nursery children.
At Westvale our dinner hall is set up to be a homely environment; the children are served at their table so there is no queueing involved. In the Early Years, every table is supported by an adult who works with the children to help and encourage them to eat, use a knife and fork correctly, and assist clearing up after their meal. Staff enjoy their meals with the children, encouraging the conversation to flow. Gentle music is played throughout lunchtimes.
Your child's special diet need not prevent them from enjoying a healthy and tasty school lunch with their friends. We can provide tailored school meals for children with special dietary requirements or medically related diets.
If your child has any allergies, intolerances or religious requirements and would still like to enjoy our freshly prepared school meals, then you simply need to fill in a form available at the school office, so that we can ensure your child has a 'Special Diet Menu' just for them. Please do not include your child's dislikes or food preferences on the form, as we cannot tailor our 'Special Diet Menus' to these requests.
