Below is some useful information about our class.

Reading

We encourage your child to read at home for at least 15 minutes, five times per week, to foster their love of reading. Children have their Z.P.D. (reading level) in their spelling book to show which books they should be reading.
Your child should change their reading book as and when they need to in our class library so they always have a book to read and enjoy.
Once children have finished reading a book, use this link to visit the Accelerated Reader site and take a quiz at home on the book they have just finished.

If you are unable to take quizzes at home, please inform Miss Maynard so she can organise time for a quiz to be taken at school.

There are whole class and individual rewards linked to Accelerated Reader.

P.E.

Children need to come to school wearing their school P.E. kit on their designated P.E. day.
Swans' P.E. day is Friday.
Please remember to remove earrings before children come to school on a Friday.

Home Learning

Children are asked to read their books at home as much as possible. Please ensure your child reads at least 5 times a week.
Children should complete Accelerated Reader (A.R.) quizzes on the books they have read within 24 hours of finishing a book.
Children should play Times Tables Rock Stars for at least 10 minutes 4/5 times a week to improve their speed and recall of multiplication facts. They need to score at least 150 points per week.
Spellings will come home on a Monday and be tested the following Monday. There will usually be 10 words to learn per week. If children achieve full marks in a spelling test, they will be given a special 'spelling superstar' sticker, and their score will be recorded in their spelling log.
Over the course of each week, children should complete 30 minutes of maths practise using the online platform Maths Whizz at home. This will be checked every Friday. Children have their log-in details and have been shown how to log in to the platform.
