Ravens Class

Welcome to the Ravens Class page.

Class Teacher: Miss A. Lamont

Below is some useful information about our class.

Reading

  • We encourage you to read with your children at home at least 5 times a week to foster a love of reading within your child. Children will have a ZPD and therefore they know which colour book they should be reading. This information is also stuck into their Reading Records.
  •  We encourage your child to change their book as and when they need to in our class libraries so that they will always have a book to read.
  • Please remember to write in your child's reading journal every time they have read at home. We also encourage the children in Year 4 to write a comment in their reading journal when they can.
  • Every 5 reads recorded will be noted and your child will earn a raffle ticket which will be entered into a prize draw.

PE

  • Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit on their designated P.E. day
  • Raven's P.E. day is Monday.
  • Please remember to remove earrings before they come to school on their PE day.

Homework

  • Children are asked to read their books at home as much as is possible. Please ensure the children read at least 5 times a week and sign their reading diary each time they read.
  • Children should complete Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes on the books they have read within 24 hours of finishing the book. If you are finding it difficult to access AR please speak to your child's class teacher
  • Play TT Rockstars for at least 10 minutes 4/5 times a week to improve their speed and recall of multiplications. They need to score at least 150 point per week.
  • Spellings will come home on a Tuesday and be tested the following Tuesday. This will usually be 10 words a week.
  • Please complete the maths homework from the Whiterose maths book weekly. These pages are set on a Monday and marked the following Monday.

Year 3/4 Statutory Spelling List

SUMMER TERM

During the summer term, our overarching topic is Tudor Rose. This theme places a historical focus on the Tudor period, complemented by a geographical exploration of the county of Surrey. In science, pupils will investigate states of matter, developing their understanding through observation and enquiry. In art, the focus will be on portraiture, with opportunities to study and create portraits inspired by the Tudor era.

Attached is our updated timetable, an overview of the term's learning, and the knowledge organiser for science.
