Covid-19

We continue to follow all the appropriate guidance from the NHS, Public Health England and the DFE.   Social distancing measures are still required along with promoting good hygiene and robust cleaning systems. We will keep in frequent contact with you about developments as they arise.

Department for Education (DfE) Coronavirus helpline

The Department for Education has launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education. Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)

The advice from the Department for Education is still that no school should close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless directed to do so by Public Health England.

“Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are likely to have been more affected particularly severely by closures and may need more support to return to school and settle back into school life. Whilst all pupils will benefit from the EEF recommendations, it is likely that some forms of support will be particularly beneficial to disadvantaged.”

Great teaching is the most important lever schools have to improve outcomes for their pupils.  Every pupil will have been affected differently by Covid-19.  Enabling teachers to assess pupils’ wellbeing and learning needs is likely to make it easier for teachers and other school staff to provide effective support.
